Philips Green showroom to go on roadshow to rural areas

Philips Malaysia will send its van, called the Philips-Cetree Energy Efficient Mobile Showroom into rural areas to educate folks on how to save energy and money.

(Cetree stands for Centre for Education, Training and Research in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency).

According to the company’s chief executive officer for
Malaysia Rajah Kumar, the purpose of the exercise was to introduce solar energy to rural folk and to get them interested about other forms of energy generation.

Now, what really piqued me is why in the world would Philips want to send this van to the rural areas when the actual target ought to be the urban folks, who use more electrical appliances compared to their rural counterparts.

This another example of a non-thinking strategy and a waste of a noble effort.
